A major milestone has been achieved in the Shanghai Sediver Insulator Glass Furnace Cold Repair and Technical Upgrade Project, undertaken by the Glass & Fiberglass Engineering Division of the Group. On March 28, after 19 days of intensive, high-efficiency execution, the furnace masonry works officially commenced. This marks the project’s full transition into the main construction phase and lays a solid foundation for the scheduled ignition and commissioning.

Racing Against Time to Deliver a “Fast-Track” Cold Repair

This project is defined by an exceptionally tight schedule and demanding workload. Since mobilization and site preparation, and following the successful furnace draining on March 10, the project team has taken on a series of complex challenges, including furnace cooling, demolition, steel structure dismantling, refurbishment, and installation.

Facing a demanding construction environment and multiple technical hurdles, the team implemented meticulous planning and dynamic scheduling, breaking down the timeline to hourly targets. To ensure progress, a high-intensity execution model—featuring increased manpower, extended shifts, and round-the-clock operations—was adopted, all while maintaining uncompromising standards in safety and quality.

Strong support from the client, along with robust coordination and resource allocation from the Group and the Division, enabled seamless integration across all construction stages. Through close collaboration, every process was efficiently aligned, ensuring steady and accelerated progress.

From furnace draining on March 9 to the commencement of masonry works on March 28, the team accomplished, within just 19 days, a series of highly challenging tasks, including safe material discharge, controlled cooling of a high-temperature furnace, precise refractory dismantling, and critical steel structure upgrades.
